Agda Bavi Pain: Sex, Crime and Money

He was born in Košice in 1966 and studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He has several artistic names and brands, such as Tony Gaal or Aladár Hrča. He has written eight books and several works for theater, television and film. He made his debut with the book of satanic poems Kosť & koža [Bone and Skin] (2002), which caused a stir among critics and the Church, and continued with the book of sci-fi poems Rytier bez básne a Hany [Knight without a Poem and Hana] (2010).  For his novel Koniec světa [The End of the World] (2006) he won the Grand Prize for Eastern European Literature the Bank Austria Literaris 2008. Agda Bavi Pain is the co-author of the Európska ústava vo verši [European Constitution in verse] (2009), which is a permanent part of the exhibition at the House of European History in the Brussels. Recently, a reissue of his hit The of the World was published, about which the German press wrote: “On the subject of sex, crime and money, which have been the main ingredients of many Eastern European books over the past 20 years, The of the World is a twofold leader.”
