Born in Beograd in 1946, Fodorová grew up in Prague, and has been living in London since 1968. She studied Film at the Royal College of Art in London, and has worked as a psychotherapist since 2000. She has published a novel První terapie (The First Therapy, 2019) and a book portrait of her mother, the writer Lenka Reinerová Lenka (2020). “Anna Fodorová also writes to write herself out of her own life; she takes literature for a testimony. But here one needs to add an aesthetic distinction: Fodorová is somehow a more accomplished writer than Reinerová. Her style is mellower, more lyrical, but simultaneously more accurate and analytical. No melodrama, as one might expect of the topic, but sensitive understanding,“ writes Josef Rautenkranz of her book.
